Menotrophin is a postmenopausal gonadotropin. It mainly has the effect of follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), while luteinizing hormone (LH) has little effect. For women can promote the development and maturation of follicles, and promote the secretion of estrogen from the follicles, so that the endometrium proliferate. The addition of chorionic gonadotropin can enhance the ovulation induction. For men, it can promote the development of testicular seminiferous tubules, promote sperm cell division and sperm maturation.
Used in combination with chorionic gonadotropin or clomiphene to treat anovulatory infertility. Anovulatory patients with insufficient secretion of pituitary gonadotropin or insufficient secretion of hypothalamic gonadotropin-releasing hormone can be used. Currently, it is generally recommended for cases in which ovulation or bromocriptine is ineffective. In combination with clomiphene, the amount of this product can be reduced by about 50%, and the incidence of ovarian hyperstimulation can be reduced.Also used for primary or secondary amenorrhea, male sperm deficiency and ovarian function tests.
